Winston Elton has a Bachelors of Science from Brigham Young University, a Masters Degree in Business Administration from University of Alberta, and has taken advanced appraisal and valuation courses in residential, income property, and business valuation from institutions such as New York University and Harvard.  Mr. Elton is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) with the American Society of Appraisers, responsible for reviewing and providing final approval for appraisals throughout the United States, and was a California Certified General Real Estate Appraiser.  He has taught research methods, marketing principles, and management strategies at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Prior to forming Elton & Associates, Mr. Elton was a Principal and Director of the Real Estate Group in San Diego for KPMG, one of the largest professional services firms in the world.  His responsibilities included supervision of major and minor projects, with an emphasis on residential real estate, Master Planned Communities, and large mixed use projects, and market and financial analysis of all types of real estate, including golf courses, resort and recreational projects, most forms of commercial real estate, and other specialty land uses.  Mr. Elton also served as President of the Goodkin Group, a San Diego-based consulting organization, prior to that group’s joining KPMG.  Before that, he owned and operated his own consulting and investment business, conducting market feasibility, extensive public opinion surveys, and economic and financial consulting for clients across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and the Far East.  He was principal owner of a small residential and commercial construction company, has served as Executive Director of the Mayor's Office for a large western city, and has worked for government and institutional interests on many occasions. He has been both a general and limited partner in real estate investments, has held a real estate broker and salesperson license, and has developed, invested in, and sold a variety of real estate projects, including land subdivisions, apartment, and office projects.  Mr. Elton has served on advisory committees for the Boy Scouts of America, the California Center for the Arts, and the United Way.

Mr. Elton is the author of a wide variety of articles, research reports, and marketing and organization plans.  He has spoken on real estate and appraisal issues to numerous international organizations including the Urban Land Institute, the Construction Financial Management Association, the Building Industry Association, State Societies of Certified Public Accountants,  the International New Town Association, the Canadian Urban Development Institute, the Canadian Homebuilders Association, and at a range of international real estate conferences, including the Pacific Coast Builders Conference, the East Coast Builders Conference, the National MultiFamily Conference, the World Property Conference in Hong Kong, the Resort Development Conference in Hong Kong, and the National Association of Home Builders Conference.
